Description
Picnic Point State Park on Grindstone Island NY, St Lawrence River, is boat access only and is a site for fishing guides to host shore dinners. The gazebo was rebuilt with private donations and rededicated in Sissy's honor in 2006 by the governor of NY, Sissy Danforth, when she was executive director of the Thousand Islands Land Trust, was a tireless worker in preserving the river environment. The shore dinner grove is to the left (in this painting) about 75 feet
away and I could hear the chatter and merriment of a shore dinner in process while I was painting. The sailboat mast to the right over the hill, belonged to a Canadian couple who were anchored and enjoying the day. A loon family builds a nest in the bay there each year.
