Description
A short distance down river from the US Span of the 1000 Islands Bridge to Wellesley Island and then Canada is Brown Bay on Wellesley Island. Across the narrows of the St Lawrence River on the other side is Swan Bay. I live on Brown Bay and observe many moonlit nights, with the lights of Swan Bay on the opposite shoreline.
This is on interpretation and I plan a few more. A short distance down river from Brown Bay and on the mainland side there is a summer residence of Victorian Style that is named "Always". "Always" is the name of a song Irving Berlin wrote in 1925 for his wife to be in 1926, Ellin McKay. Legend has it that Mr. Berlin stayed at the summer residence now named after his song "Always". Legend also has it that another song ,"Reaching for the Moon", was inspired by Irving Berlin observing the moon reflecting on Brown Bay leading to the name "Moon Bay". The song, Reaching for the Moon, initial lyrics are, "A pale new moon, a sky of blue..."
