Description
A studio painting from sketches of the live model, part of a college course where the assignment was to place the figures in an outdoor setting of your choice and incorporating distance perspective. The one restriction was to not depict the figures in an anatomically precise manner with realism, as that skill was demonstrated in prior courses. I used a 9 x 12 inch plein air painting I did in June of 2013 while painting in a New York Plein Air Painters retreat, as the background. The scene is Kaaterskill Clove on the Hudson River School Art Trail. (See Asher B. Durand, Kaaterskill Clove , 1866).
