Description
Painted at Sackets Harbor Battlefield (War of 1812) on 6/6/15, National Historic Trail Day. Hall House is visible on the left and the Red Barn to the far right. A beautiful cool day for en plein air. The wind was brisk at 15 to 17 mph but I was tucked behind a row of tall bushes that stopped the wind (I had no problems with my Shady Buddy umbrella blowing over.). The shore line wall provided a nice bench for my equipment bag and a place to sit for lunch and replace electrolytes with my favorite bubbly beverage. The Sackets Harbor Gallery (aanny.org) and the Battlefield joined together to sponsor two days of a "Brush with History". Plein Air painters could offer works for sale at their easel. The young woman reading a book was a great model as she sat in one place for over two hours. Her bike is leaned up behind the tree. Every hour or so some reenactment troops would shoot off a small cannon. About 1:20pm they let go with the big one and even though i was a 100 yards away I could have used ear plugs.
